How can we win the war against obesity?

If you don't want to stay overweight forever, it makes sense to address the problem as soon as possible rather than putting off weight loss. Sticking to a weight loss plan isn't always easy, but the sooner you start eating healthier and exercising more, the faster you'll see results. If you want to win the battle against obesity, you must be willing to change your eating and exercise habits, because that's the only way you can realistically expect to lose and maintain your weight.

One of the biggest problems with losing weight is that it's tempting to lose weight quickly on a very low-calorie diet, only to gain weight again when you realize you can't stick to such a restrictive plan. So it makes sense to aim for gradual weight loss, since a pound or two a week is a reasonable amount of weight to lose. If you're aiming for that amount and not losing four or five pounds a week, you can still enjoy your food and not have to spend all your free time in the gym.

To win the battle against obesity, you need to think about the future because if you don't, you could lose weight but then gain weight again. If you adopt a sensible eating plan that involves consuming fewer calories, but not so few calories that you are starving most of the time and therefore indulge in junk food, you should be able to stick to that plan when attempting to eat your to maintain weight. This way you can avoid your weight constantly fluctuating depending on whether you are on a diet or not.

Of course, to lose weight you must reduce your calorie intake by eating less junk food and making healthier choices, snacking less and putting less food on your plate. If you eat regularly throughout the day, you should also find that controlling your calorie intake is much easier. It's not just about your diet, though, because exercise can play an important role in losing weight and staying slim. So take the time to do something for half an hour a day that gets your heart beating a little faster.

When you combine a reduced-calorie diet with regular exercise, you will start to lose weight, although not as quickly as you would like. All you need is a little patience and determination and you will make it.
