How do I stop regaining my weight?

Losing weight is a battle won, but keeping the weight off wins the war. The ups and downs with weight and struggles with eating can be insane. For many people, it can be a cruel addiction. Unlike alcohol and drug cessation, people cannot be weaned from food to get rid of the addiction. Humans need them to survive. There is hope, however, but it takes discipline, determination, willpower, and a change in lifestyle and habits. If a person lacks any or all of these factors, the likelihood of maintaining the weight is low to non-existent.

How do I stop regaining my weight?

Discipline: Get on the scale every day

Once a person has reached their goal weight, the first thing they need to do is weigh themselves every day to maintain it. Once they weigh a pound too much, they need to limit their food intake. If they exceed three pounds or more, they should return to their diet plan. If they don't, three pounds becomes five pounds, five pounds becomes seven pounds, and so on. Catch it before it gets out of control.

Determination: Don't lose focus

The person who has "relapsed" should not blame themselves for whatever they do. You have to get back on the horse and continue riding. They lost it once, they will lose it again. But this time it will only be three pounds and not 10, 50 or 100 because they catch it early. Many people pin pictures of what they used to look like on the refrigerator door, medicine cabinet, or car windshield to remind themselves of what happens when they lose control. Others have partners or friends who call them when they are concerned they might slip up. This method is used in rehab and it works for many.

Willpower: Stay away from the kitchen, avoiding fast food and certain drinks

There are certain foods and drinks that are really addictive, high in calories and just plain bad for the body. These are as follows:

Greasy, greasy foods: pizza, hamburgers, french fries, onion rings, hot dogs, chili dogs, fried cheese sticks, fried fish fingers, fried chicken, fried potato skins, nachos, most types of chips

Lots of sugar and/or corn syrup: Ice cream, chocolate, cookies, cakes, pies, candy bars, brownies, Danishes, donuts, coffee cakes, smoothies, certain breakfast cereals, some breakfast bars, assorted juices, fancy coffee drinks, lots of alcoholic drinks, soda, pancake syrup , French toast

High Salt: Diet soda, soda pop, pretzels, popcorn, crackers, chips, nuts

There are many more bad dishes and refreshments, but these are the most common foods Americans eat on a regular basis. Knowing that excess consumption leads to weight gain, stay away from these foods if you don't want to lose the war.

Changing lifestyle and habits

What causes a person to eat? It could be a combination of genetics and environment or the environment. The person should find out what makes them crave a big bowl of ice cream or eat a whole cake. Did she have a bad day at work? Are the children overpowered? Did someone insult her? Are you depressed, frustrated, bored and/or lonely? When the urge to run to the fridge or to a fast food restaurant overcomes them, they need to stop, take a deep breath, and fight and conquer that urge. Here are a few simple steps that can help you stay disciplined and determined to keep the weight off.

Place a treadmill in front of the TV (remove the couch and chairs from the room if that helps)

Watch TV for just 30 minutes a day

Exercise fifteen to thirty minutes a day

After dinner, don't return to the kitchen until the next morning.

Think positive thoughts before going to sleep

Before you leave the house in the morning, think of something positive

Before you have lunch, think of something positive.

Don't go to the grocery store hungry or you may end up opening a bag of chips and eating while shopping.

Count calories daily and know that when 1500-1800 is exceeded, the scale is moving in the wrong direction.

Join an activity or club. If the person is single, they might want to go to an online dating agency.

Volunteer at a hospital, animal shelter, etc.

Learn how to play golf, tennis, etc.

Do you take dance classes, karate, etc.

And finally, and most importantly, they must learn to love themselves and value themselves as worthy human beings. You might want to seek advice and surround yourself with positive forces, e.g. B. Making new friends who appreciate them and minimizing contact with those who don't appreciate them. You need to tell yourself that you need to keep a positive mental attitude. Nobody can do or say anything that could make them depressed. It's amazing what can happen when people have a bright attitude. Find that star and keep it bright and shining. Never let the light go out again.
